one month and counting!

June 2, 2012
I can't even tell you how much I am looking forward to my holiday right now. Do you ever do that thing where you buy a load of holiday clothes, but kind of wish you didn't because it makes you want to go on holiday RIGHT THIS SECOND? yeah, that's how i am right now.. I will show you a few bits that I got today in just a second.

This Wednesday the new Starbuck's store that I am based at is opening. I'm actually really excited about it to be fair.. It will be like working in luxury conditions compared to the pod that we've been training at. Our new store seems huge, so spacious and light. It is built at an angle facing the sports centre with all the front being glass windows, making the store look very welcoming- not dingy like I find most other stores. And the best thing? It's air conditioned! yippeeee. We also have such a good team going down there. We all get along so well so far, in fact a few of us have even been out together-- nothing quite like a bonding session over a couple of tequila slammers!

okay, so now for a few of my holiday things. I won't bore you with a load of writing to go with it this time, so here it goes.

I picked up this playsuit today from T K Maxx for £14.00. It caught my eye cos I was on the lookout for something that's gonna look good dressed up at night time on holiday, but also something that I can wear in the summer time. This seemed perfect and fits so well!

This bag is perfect for lazy days around the pool, or lugging all my crap to the beach with me. I love the summery print of this and think it will look so good with denim cut offs! Matalan- £6.

I got this hat because I'm sick of my mum and dad nagging me about getting one. I get that they're worried as it's my first holiday away without them, and I did faint twice last holiday, but I'm not stupid. I figured I should get a cute one like this if
I have to get one. Can't be looking crappy now can I? Matalan £6.

I loved these wedges as soon as I saw them. They will make any outfit a little more laid-back but still look cool. And
 they're comfy! Matalan £18.

This is definitely the final bikini I am buying for holiday! haha. It's cute, simple and a lovely fit. Matalan £6 for top and £5 for bottoms.

So there are just a few things that I will be taking - I'm sure before I go I will do a whole long piece on what to take and what I am taking etc, but for now I hope this helps! :)

I did get a few dresses and tops this week, but I'm gonna add those tomorrow cos I am soo tired right now.
Nighteo guys xoxo

skin care, makeup and a shitty webcam.

May 20, 2012
Hiiiii.
Today i'm just gonna review a few new bits that i got this week but i've left my camera at Luke's, so i had to use my shitty low-quality camera so i'll just apologise for that now..

1. St Ives blemish fighting apricot scrub: my friend told me about a different type of this back when we were in school and i remember buying a travel-sized one, using it and thinking it was amazing. it really does clear your skin from all makeup and dirt and make it feel so clean. This one claims to fight blemishes, so i will give it another week and let you know how it goes on.

2. St Ives cleansing wipes: These are really good. I hate makeup wipes that aren't wet enough to get all your makeup off quickly (and seeing as i wear sooo much mascara usually it's really hard for me to find decent ones), but these wipes are awesome for getting tough mascara off. I also find that it does take around 99% of makeup off your face- I always use a cleanser afterwards just to make sure it's all off and i find that barely anything comes off after using these wipes. i really do recommend these wipes and they can be bought really cheap right now at B&M for £3.99.

3. Veet hair removal cream: I tried this years ago and im sure that it didn't work, but i saw it in a few magazines recently and thought i'd give it another go.. i'm really glad that i did. i put it on in the bath this time as oppose to the shower (cos i think maybe the water spashed onto it a few times and made the cream less powerful) and left it for around 5-6 minutes. It worked wonderfully. It was only yesterday that i used it so i can't comment of the difference in hair growth in comparison to shaving yet, but i will do tomorrow/day after etc. You can pick this up in your nearest poundland, or at any chemists/ supermarkets at a low price.

i bought this product last week as i've heard such good reviews on Fake Bake so I didn't mind paying the price. I usually get the kind of tans where it is a cream and you leave it so many hours/overnight to develop cos i feel that they give you the best results, but ive been meaning to piick up an instant tan for a while incase i get caught looking a little pale, or need a quick pick me up. it was in Boots for £13 and i thought that was a reasonable price, so i got it with pretty high expectations... i have to say that i've used it like 4 times since buying it and it definitely does not live up to my expectations. it barely leaves a stain on the skin, let alone anything that could be classed as a tan. Maybe it's because when i tan, i always use darker ones (because that is kind of the point), so that could be a point to take in. Im not sure. It is a thin liquid when sprayed, so it does spread pretty easily but im just really not impressed with the coverage. I even tried layering it, which didn't work either..

have you tried any of these? what did you think of them?

new buys & boring training courses.

May 16, 2012
Hiiiiii!
I've gotta say that this is gonna be a pretty short post today cos I have a huuuge headache and I still need to write up a few notes from the courses that I have been on this week, get a shower, pick up Lukey from work and then get off to bed ready for tomorrow's course. yaaawn.

anywho, this week i took a little trip to town after work to return some things i got last week and found myself in Primark.. The next thing i know, i had a basket full and had spent £40. yikes.  i've only taken a few pictures today but i will add some more later of the other things i got.

Truth be told, i bought this skirt with the intention of putting it away and saving it for holiday but there was finally a flash of sun this morning and i thought that it would brighten up the day! i paired it, as you can see, with a coral coloured blouse that i got for about £40 from Outfit last year (i can't remember the actual brand name), but it matches so many things and it's so,so flattering to all sizes. anyway back to the skirt, I got it for £4, which is a total bargain in my opinion. Like i said, i thought it would look really nice on holiday as it's just so versatile. after wearing it today i am definitely gonna go back to Primark and see if they have any more variations of it-- it's just so comfy and i got so many compliments!

I haven't taken off this blazer since the second i got it. Like the skirt, it is also very versatile- it matches practically everything and can smarten up any outfit in a second. totally loving it! i always find that nude colours really compliment me and i absolutely love blazers- so as soon as i saw someone wearing one a few months ago, i have been looking for a perfect one since. eeeek, im so excited about it! :)  anywho, it was £15 from Primark and i also saw a lemon one which i think im gonna have to get when i next get paid.

I did get a few more things from Primark such as a pair of burgundy leggings with black crosses on, a 2-pack bikini, a plain, thin, white, tie-up top which will look cute over a bikini on holiday, a black tee with a tiger across it and a pair of open-toe, black shoes. i will upload a few pictures of them some time tomorrow though.

I got this cardigan earlier this week from Tesco! it caught my eye straight away cos i really liked the colours and patterns of it and it looks super-cute for a lazy, casual day chucked on with jeans.. yippeee. it was only £16 too.

so there are a few buys of the week from me.
what do you think of them? have you got anything new this week?

lots of love, jessie xox

ugh, all work and no play.

May 8, 2012
hi guys.
i know it's been a while since i last blogged, but i'm so busy with the two jobs (starbucks and tesco) that by the time i get home, i am completely shattered and literally just fall straight to sleep! :(
there isn't that much to even tell you. im not kidding, i've literally only been working and sleeping. oh, i went to Alton Towers a couple of days ago with Lukey, my younger sister and her friend. yeah, that was fun.. there's a new ride called Nemesis Sub Terra or something like that and if you go you have to check that out.. I won't spoil it, but Alton Towers are very clever with the way their staff are placed/dressed etc. so yeah, well done on that one.
also, i've seen a few movies recently, some at the cinema and some just on Netflix (my dad recently bought a subscription). i think the best few i've watched cinema-wise have to be 'Gone' and 'The Hunger Games'. 'Gone' features Amanda Seyfried (from Mamma Mia, Letters to Juliet and Dear John) in a chase to find a man who had previously kidnapped her and taken her away to be killed. Of course, she escaped and now the kidnapper had stalked her and taken her sister. I won't say anymore in fear of ruining the film, but it's a very, very good twist towards the end. honestly, you should all watch that. And then there is Hunger Games. Another action-ey film. Been watching quite a few of those to say that i don't usually like them.. but yeah, it's a real good film. i literally just went to see it because i knew that it was going to be popular, and everyone was calling it the new Twilight or Harry Potter, so me and Lukey went to see it. As i've said, it's very enjoyable.. a bit confusing at times, but i think that was just me being dim. anywho. good films.
I also took my sister to see 'Mirror Mirror' which in my opinion was a complete waste of my time and money. I actually had to be woken up at one point, although i'm sure i would've enjoyed it more if i wasn't so tired out from working all these hours as my sister said it was actually quite a good film.. ahh, who knows.
i just have one thing to say about Netfilx whilst i'm still talking about films.. it's pretty rubbish compared to how the describe it to be. yes, it does have 1,000's of films on it, but most of them are complete budget films with no story and lack any kind of excitement or enjoyability. i could make a better film than most of them! saying that, there are a fair few that are actually watchable (mainly kids and horrors) but let me know what you think about it?

I had my first half-pay from Starbuck's about two weeks ago, so i went out and got a few things from various shops, so i will leave pictures of those below now and then next time i'm on i will let you know what i wear them with etc. and i can also add the other things that i miss out! :)

Jumper- Tesco; i originally got this one a few months back cos i really liked it and there was one similar in New Look for like double the price. I think originally it was £12 or £14, but i couldn't decide whether to get the grey/black/white or salmon/white. i eventually got the grey/black, but luckily the salmon ones went down to just £9 this week, wahoo! i will put up a picture of the salmon one next time.

white brogues; i got these (along with a lot more) today at Primark. They were £10 and they're supercute. i'm gonna put up the other things that i got today so i will take a closer picture of them, but they just match everything and will be worn so much this summer!

Tiger vest top; this is from Miss Selfridge. I got it in the sale last week after i'd got paid and it was £12. It goes with absolutely everything!

Jeans; i've wanted some new jeans for a while now, but i was waiting until i found some that i reeeally liked.. im so picky. these ones were from Dorothy Perkins for £24 and they are really fitting yet so, so comfortable. love them!

and then finally the sheer black top; Lukey got me this from George at Asda last week cos i was always moaning that i couldn't find a simple one that won't play up the printed leggings etc. i found that all the other ones have a feature that makes the outfit look 'too much', but this one just looks fabulous with everything..

right now i need a bath so i can get ready for tesco. i do have a dominos pizza on the way though. thanks mum!

big loves,
 Jessie xox

primark buyssss

April 8, 2012
I'm so impressed with Primark this week- I haven't been in for about two months, mainly cos I've had no money and been working so much, but it seems to have loads of things that I would buy in there this month. Me and my younger sister went to town to get Luke a little something just to say thank you for the last year and we couldn't resist a cheeky little shop whilst we were there! ;)

This picture isn't very good, but it's the only one I have with me at the moment, so it will have to do!

I've been wanting a black blazer for ages cos the one I've got is very short and fitted and doesn't give the same effect as a boyfriend blazer when it's just been thrown on. This one fits perfectly, and the material is really nice, like silky but still the typical blazer-material. Hard to explain i guess. anyway, I literally have not taken it off since I got it just because it makes anything that you throw on look so chic! It was £15 which is a total bargain.

Now for the striped dress. I've been wanting a striped skater dress for a while now, but whenever I try one on, they never seem to flatter my figure or they never have a bigger/smaller size etc, but when I saw this one, I thought that I would give it a go and try it on. It is made from that kind of clingy material, and i never ever buy that as i find it so unflattering unless you are super skinny, but the stripes seemed so perfect and the cut was different to any other that I have seen so far. In the changing room, I loved the way it looked and so i bought it to wear out the next time I go out for a meal or to town etc. Bargain price of £10 too. yay.

As you all know, I am a HUGE fan of leopard print, so when I saw this I just had to try it on! I've wanted a leopard print skirt/dress for a while now as I've seen so many people pull it off and they look so lovely and this one just flattered my figure perfectly. It makes my legs look super long! Luke got me some black wedges from New Look last week, so I put those on with them and they really did make my legs look awesome. I wore it with a chiffon burgundy blouse and it really complimented the print of the skirt. Low priced at £6 too!

Do you like these?

Xen Tan and Garnier Ambre Solaire

April 7, 2012

Products:
Xen-Tan Dark Lotion   -eBay; £23.99
Garnier No Trace Bronzeur     -Poudland; £1

I have to say that i have tried and tested around 40 different fake tanning products, and the majority of my top 10 are actually Garnier. This being said, i am in no way biased towards this.

I will start with Xen Tan. Overall, i am very impressed by this fake tanner. It leaves you with a colour that can only be found on a naturally olive-skinned individual and the longevity of it is simply wonderful. I found this product out from a girl at work who is usually around the same fairness as myself but it had looked like she'd stopped time and nipped to the Bahamas for the week, so I just had to ask her what it was and where i could get it. She told me the name of this and said that she had gotten it from House Of Fraser, but being the impatient little shit that i am, i couldn't wait until i could get to town, so i had a little look on eBay. I found this deal (£23.99) and you get a free mitt and a very small sample of 'Face tanner luxe' which i also tried. I would say that the free mitt that you get is a complete waste of time. i had read in a few reviews online that this is true, but i thought i would try it for myself. The mitt merely dries out the product and drags it around the area of application making it appear very streaky and uneven so I ended up using my hands to finish off. This was a big mistake as my hands are still very stained and dirty-looking, eventhough I washed my hands numerous times. Any way, as you are putting the product on, it leaves a browny-olivey colour behind so that you can see where you have put it which is a very good idea. The colour doesn't give too much coverage and it's not too dark, just a sunkissed brown. I found that this tan works better if you put it on before bed and leave it until the morning.
The product itself smells distinctly like marzipan, which i think is delicious! The next morning, i put my arm against my stupidly white stomach and it looked like this:
ew, my stomach is so gross!!! like raw chicken.
anyway, as you can see, this colour is absolutely beautiful, and so so far away from my natural colour! hehe.
I am very impressed with this tanner. The only thing that I am not happy with is that i have a few little patches on my hands and wrists from it so i'm going to have to find a new way of putting it on and not getting patches!

Now for the Garnier one: I have to say for a quid you cannot go wrong! I don't have as much to say about this one. I only got the one to begin with, but after I had given it a try at home, i sent my sister back to get me two more. I absolutely love it! Best bargain i've gotten all year! It claims to be 'no streaks' and having applied it on my arms, chest and legs twice now, i can completely agree with it! Not a streak in sight! very, very impressed. I love the smell of all Garnier products! They are so fresh and fruity-smelling. This one is kind of half-instant and half-gradual in the sense that i doesn't wash straight off, so i was kind of impressed with that. This one is a mousse, so it spreads out so easily, and it washes straight off your hands and doesn't leave you with tanned palms so this also impressed me.
Very, very happy with my two new buys!

crazily busy month & the start of a new chapter.

April 7, 2012

i'm really sorry for the serious lack of blogging in the last month, but i've been working so hard! i literally haven't had a day off in a month and a half, and i can honestly tell you that i am SERIOUSLY feeling it right now.. I have just finished a 9-6 shift, and due to it being Easter Sunday tomorrow i finally get the day off that i've been waiting for! Thank the lord. no literally.. and, i finally have some good news! I got a new job! As you can see, i have changed the site around a little and had a play on words with my new site name. For those who don't know me personally, my name is Jessica Starbuck.. and i may have just got a job at STARBUCKS. haha, how ironic? i start training on wednesday and i'm super excited. wish me luck!
anywho, with good luck comes a bit of bad luck..  I was in a car accident a few weeks back, so my little baby has been written off :( seriously sad. BUTTTTT, i now have the car of my dreams. i really feel as though i should marry it!
pretty isn't she?!

speaking of marriage, (no, im not engaged), i have been with Luke for a whole year now. it doesn't seem like 2 minutes ago since i was telling you all that i have a new boyfriend.. crazzzzyyyyy.

righteo. hope you all have a lovely easter; i know i will!

yummmmmmm!

weekly wish list.

February 27, 2012

This week's wish list comes mainly from New Look and River Island. The items have been out for a while now, but I think that they will become a lot more popular in the coming weeks as this nasty weather finally gets replaced by (hopefully) a few higher degrees and a spot of sunshine! My main purpose for this outfit was to give you girlies an idea of what to wear on a spring date, so here we go.

1. Wedges, New Look; £34.99 - i love these wedges. they're so girly and perfect for those days where it's warm but it may not quite be flipflop weather just yet. Also these can literally be worn with anything. Team with a pair of skinny jeans for now and then wear with floaty dresses in the summer. perrrfect.
2. Bag, River Island; £50- this bag is adorable. again, this bag can be teamed with anything, it is big enough to fit all the essentials in and it's such an on-trend color. i will definitely be getting this bag!
3. Skirt, New Look; £19.99- i fell in love with this skirt as soon as i saw it. it comes in a range of different colours, so there is always a different choice if this colour isn't for you. This is a skirt that can take you from a girly date to a night out on the town. wear with a rock-chic tee, black shoe boots and a leather jacket and you're good to go!
4. Top, New Look; £19.99- i chose this to go with the skirt as the pattern is so feminine and versatile that it can be worn with endless pieces and always make the outfit look classy. The black looks good against the light colour of the skirt, and i'm so excited to purchase this!
5. Denim Jacket, River Island; £35.00- denim jackets last an eternity. there has never been a time where denim jackets have gone out of fashion, nor will there be a day to come where you will wear it and hear sniggers. they are SO versatile, and can literally be worn with anything. perfect to chuck in a bag and wear when the nights become chilly.
6. Necklace, Accessorise; £8- i chose a plain necklace as the print is busy so it didn't need much, but i really like the colours in the necklace and the style is lovely.

tell me what you think about these? would you change anything?

love Jessie xxx

old lady.

February 22, 2012

ah, hey!
well, this is my first blog post as a 19 year old. 19? It sounds so old to me! it's the last year of being a teenager.. time to grow up and get life plans? possibly so.

so this week has been totally awesome! Not only was it my birthday and Valentine's day, but I was also treated to see Olly Murs AND The Wanted. wow! I must say, Im a much bigger fan of Olly than I am the Wanted boys, but they didn't half put on a show- i think i enjoyed it just as much! Also, The Wanted were supported by Parade- an all-girl group who have had a couple of top 10 songs out in the UK, so it was wicked to see them.

I was also a very spoilt girl on Valentine's day;

how cute are all these?! i LOVE the underwear, and the card is absolutely beautiful. I've never had flowers given to me before, so i was chuffed with those. Aw, and my little Hello Kitty teddy and a lovely necklace too. aw, they're so cute!

and for my birthday:

these are just the bits that stuck in my mind, but i did also get my car tax paid for, a spotted chiffon top, a couple of mugs, chocolates, makeup, a gawj dress, jewellery and a few other bits and bobs.
1. Hello Kitty beach towel. I saw someone with one on holiday and REALLY wanted one. thanks mummy!
2. Hello Kitty necklace; it actually opens up to be a watch. super cute!
3. Pink Pandora bracelet; my auntie & nana asked what i wanted and i thought it would look cute with my grey one.
4. Hello Kitty shopper; use it as a beach bag to match my towel. good thinking mumma!
5. Leopard print leggings; I LOVE THESE SO MUCH. wanted them forever and lukey just knows me so well.
6. Paul's Boutique bag; wow. this was a complete surprise, but Luke is a star. lvlvlv this bag!!
7. Ted Baker lipgloss set; they are really nice, lovely and glossy yet not sticky. don't you hate it when your hair gets stuck in your lipgloss?!
8. shoe boots; Garage shoes. I went shopping with mum and saw these in the window and HAD to have them. you get one for the sale price (reduced from £42.00 to £24!) and then you get the 2nd pair for £1!!!! amazingggggg bargain!!

oh, and i've lost 10 lb since New Year! Go meeeeee! so i'm gonna go and do some exercise on the wii now.
what are your tips on losing weight? does anyone know any fun ways too get fit?

Jessiee; xox
